Black fountain

The Black Fountain is reminiscent of a terrible catastrophe that occurred in the middle of the city.
On the evening of September 1, 1810, during Napoleon's time, French ammunition transports illegally rolled through the city. Gunpowder presumably trickled out of a defective barrel onto the street, causing sparks caused by horse hooves to explode. Over 24 houses were destroyed, innumerable injuries and 70 deaths. To commemorate this accident, the black fountain was inaugurated seven years after the accident.
