Monastery Frauenberg

The church and monastery on Frauenberg hill were built in the late Baroque period. Happiness and misfortune were closely connected here. To the disaster of the devastating fire of 1757 came the fortunate circumstance that brothers from their own ranks were available, who through talent and diligence in part as autodidactors of craftsmanship advanced to an artistic achievement. The new construction of the church and monastery from 1757 to 1766 may be seen as the Franciscans' own construction work.

The church is east-facing and represents a single nave hall of about 50 m length and 16 m width with eight yokes. The north side is free, while the south side adjoins the monastery building. Two roof riders are enthroned above the roof, the larger one over the west façade and the smaller one over the choir. The midfield of the triple-structured western façade bears the Franciscan coat of arms with the date 1761.
