Tavern at the Spreisel

The Spreisel is located in a building where gastronomy has been in operation for over 450 years. Elector Friedrich IV of the Palatinate already remarked in his diary: "We went to the Wirtz zum Schwert'z garden", which was the name of the inn at the time.

The Maria and Peter Ueberle family took over this location 20 years ago and turned it into the Wirtshaus zum Spreisel, with the famous handwritten menu peppered with regional and national delicacies. The restaurant got its distinctive name from its owner, whose nickname is "Spreisel". Due to the friendly service of the landlady, the synonym "We go to Maria" has also become common over the years.

The interior of the Spreisel is made entirely of old Black Forest wood, which has been reused from disused farmhouses and creates a rustic ambience.

In the summer months, our beautiful terrace is open, with an excellent view of the Old Bridge and the Heiligenberg.

So far, the Spreisel team has and hopes to
