Mining and Industry Museum Schloss Theuern
In 1972, the district of Amberg-Sulzbach founded the national mining and industrial museum in Theuern, 8 km south of Amberg. It was opened in 1978.
Its most important task is to research, document and present mining and industry in the entire East Bavarian region.
The seat of the Mining and Industry Museum is the Hammerherrenschloss, built in 1781.
In addition, typical regional industrial monuments were transferred to Theuern: an iron hammer mill, a glass cutting and polishing plant, which has also housed the East Bavarian Electricity Museum since 1996, and a F conveyor tower with machine house.
