Galeri Steib - Cochem

A unique artists' house in Rhineland-Palatinate. Born on February 13, 1898 in Munich, Josef Steib later discovered the Moselle for himself and moved to Cochem. Even though he initially took up another profession, painting was a part of his life. His studies at the Dusseldorf Art Academy left their mark on him. Already here he searched behind the image of nature its inner form, its true face. In pictures like "Self-Portrait with Thistle" it seems to become clear that Steib sees nature reverently and does not use it as a mere motif in his paintings. Over 400 paintings by the artist Josef Steib are presented.
