The farmhouse museum

The Amerang Farmhouse Museum, opened in 1977, shows farms and craft buildings from eastern Upper Bavaria that had long been left to decay and could only be saved by transferring them to the museum. Rural craftsmanship plays an important role in the Amerang Farmhouse Museum. The Glöcklhof smithy, a farmer's smithy dating from around 1830, displays tools and equipment for shoeing horses and fitting iron tyres to wagon wheels under the canopy. A rope workshop shows a craft that has largely disappeared today. The sawmill is still driven by a medium-speed water wheel. An original Wagner workshop and a grain mill can be visited.
