Basel-Mulhouse Airport

Basle-Mulhouse International Airport (brand name since 1987 EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg) is located 6 km north-west of Basel (Switzerland) and 22 km south-east of Mulhouse (France) on the Districts of the French communities of Hésingue (Häsingen) and Saint-Louis (St. Ludwig) in the Haut-Rhin department, however, are directly connected to Swiss national territory by the Basel Flughafenstrasse, which is a duty-free road. Unique in the world, the airport is jointly operated by two countries. Since it is also of great importance for the south-west of Germany, it was given the suffix Freiburg; South Baden representatives are on the board of directors and on the tri-national advisory board, but without voting rights. Before the opening of the EuroAirport, Swiss flights were handled by Basel-sternfeld airfield in Birsfelden, while Mulhouse was served by Mulhouse-Habsheim airfield.

Together with Zurich and Geneva airports, the airport is one of the three so-called national airports in Switzerland.
