Under the direction of geologist Dr. Markus Schade, who is a profound expert on many gold deposits in Germany, Europe, Siberia, Alaska, Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand, created an exhibition that takes you into the mysterious world of a fascinating metal. In three departments you will find old practical experience and the latest scientific knowledge about the
History, geology and mining of gold in Thuringia, Germany and beyond are presented in an easy-to-understand and entertaining way. The tour ends with a gold panning demonstration in the museum.
Of course, you can also experience gold panning and the exciting moment of your own gold discovery in the great outdoors at original sites. All those who have caught the gold fever can borrow or buy gold panning equipment in the gold shop and try their luck themselves.
